Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Tracking Experience
Kyambura Gorge is one of the most scenic and unique chimpanzee-tracking destinations in Uganda. Often referred to as the “Valley of Apes,” this lush, forested gorge cuts dramatically through the savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park, creating a striking contrast in landscapes.
Chimpanzee tracking here is more exclusive compared to other locations, with a small group size of about 6 visitors per trek, offering a more intimate and less crowded experience.
In addition to chimpanzees, the gorge is rich in wildlife. Visitors may encounter hippos along the Kyambura River, as well as elephants, Uganda kobs, baboons, black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and a variety of bird species.
The tracking experience can take up to 3 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees. An experienced ranger guide will lead you through the forest in search of the chimps.
