Our next stop is at Diakofto, where you'll board the Cog Railway (Odontotos) that connects Kalavryta with Diakofto, traveling through the breathtaking Vouraikos Canyon. This route is renowned for being one of the most beautiful natural sights in Greece and has been celebrated as one of the most spectacular railway rides in the Balkans. The train journey takes you through picturesque landscapes, winding along streams and climbing the steep narrow gorge into the mountains. You'll pass through tunnels, over waterfalls, and along cliffs, surrounded by lush forests of pine and oleander. When the incline becomes particularly steep, the train switches from a regular track to a cog system for added stability. The scenic ride concludes in the charming town of Kalavryta, offering an unforgettable experience of Greece's stunning natural beauty.

    Kastria Cave of the Lakes

Our driver will meet you in Kalavryta to continue the tour at the mysterious, magnificent, and unique "Cave of the Lakes," a rare creation of nature. Inside, you’ll find a total of 13 small and large lakes, each displaying different colors depending on the oxides present in the rocks. You will see the stunning "hanging bridge" and the "waterfalls" cascading through the cave, giving you the sensation of walking along a floating corridor. You'll also admire the unusual stalactite formations. In winter, when the snow melts, the cave transforms into a subterranean river with natural waterfalls. The explored length of the cave is 1,980 meters, with 500 meters currently developed for visitors. The exploration begins through an artificial tunnel that leads you directly to the second floor, where the views are truly awe-inspiring. The passage between the lakes is made by elevated artificial bridges. After the cave tour, we will make a stop for lunch in the picturesque village of Kalavryta.
