After hour and a half drive you'll reach the striking Ram Fortress, perched above the Danube. As you step inside its restored walls and climb its towers, you’ll find yourself immersed in centuries of history and legend. Newly renovated and still off the radar for most travelers, Ram Fortress remains a hidden treasure—one you’ll have the chance to discover before it becomes widely known.
Next stop is only 40min away - Golubac Fortress.This remarkable 13th-century stronghold that stands at very stratigic place and the gateway to the Iron Gates. As you make your way through its towers and hidden corridors, the fortress reveals its rich past and impressive medieval design. The town and the fortress alike enjoy a breathtaking position above the widest point of the Danube River along its entire course. Please keep in mind: the fortress is closed on Mondays. If your tour falls on that day, the visit will be limited to a brief roadside photo stop.
Next, you'll stop for a deserved lunch break in a local restaurant on a beautiful Danube promenade.
The final highlight of your tour is Smederevo Fortress, one of the largest and most remarkable medieval fortifications in Europe. Walking through what was once the last capital of medieval Serbia, you’ll step into a world shaped by powerful rulers and dramatic historical events. This is where you’ll uncover the strategic reasons behind the fortress’s location and understand its crucial role in Serbia’s past. After all this exploring you'll return to Belgrade around 5 or 6pm.
