Your guide will pick you up in the morning from your place of stay in Belgrade and you will head to central Serbia. On your way to Žiča, you'll pass through Kraljevo town (Kingstown). There is a reason why this town is named Kingstown, and you will learn it from your guide.
The first stop is Zica monastery which is recognizable with its beautiful red facade. This place used to be extremely important in medieval Serbia since the monastery became the center of autonomous Serbian Orthodox Church in the XIII century. From that time starts the tradition, that all Serbian kings have to be crowned in this glorious monastery.
Between two stops, you will enjoy a magnificent landscape during a ride through a Valley of the kings. If you pay close attention you can spot the remains of the marvelous Maglic fortress which is another attraction in this area. This medieval fortress overlooks this historic valley and still stands as a monument from ancient times.
Following river Ibar, through beautiful landscapes, you will reach the UNESCO site- 800 years old Studenica monastery. This great and glorious place will certainly impress everyone, believer or atheist, Christian or not. Enjoying the calmness of Studenica you will admire the astonishing interior of the main church dedicated to the Holy Mother of God, which presents probably the nicest masterpiece of medieval fresco art from the XII and later centuries.
Having finished with the main part of our route you slowly start to return to Belgrade, during which you will stop by to a local village to have lunch in an authentic restaurant “Kod Mira”. This place exists for more than 200 years and overall that time is owned by the same family – that is the best verification of the quality of their food.
