We pick-up you from Bucharest and drive to Bucegi Mountains. we drive up to the cottage Piatra Arsă, from there we go hiking to the cottage Babele where we make a stop.
Then we visit the limestone formations Babele and the Sfinx, after which we start hiking to the Heroes Monument the Cross on Caraiman Mountain.
Here we will admire the view over Prahova valley and we will enjoy the fresh air.
The return will be made on the same route.
To the east, the Bucegi Mountains have a very steep slope towards the popular tourist destinations in the Prahova Valley, such as Bușteni and Sinaia. At a higher elevation is the Bucegi Plateau, where wind and rain have turned the rocks into spectacular figures such as the Sphinx and Babele. The Bucegi is believed to be the Dacian holy mountain Kogainon, on which the God Zalmoxis resided in a cave.
Tranbucegi Road was inaugurated in 2013 and you can find it on the map as DJ 713. The portion accessible by car ends at Plaiul lui Păcală. From here you go on a foot hike to Babele. The route takes about an hour, an hour and a half depending on the physical condition and the number of stops
The Commemorative Cross to the Romanian Heroes of the First World War is a monument built between 1926 and 1928 on Caraiman Peak at an altitude of 2,291 m located in the Bucegi Mountains of the Southern Carpathians. It has a height of 39.3 metres (129 ft) and the nearest town is Buşteni. The name of the monument is "The Heroes' Cross", but it is popularly known as the "Cross on Caraiman".
