We will make a brief stop at the iconic black church at Budir and see why this is a popular spot for minimalist photography.
We will visit the towering, 1.45 m Snæfellsjökull volcano. This was the setting for Jules Verne's famous novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth”.
Nearby are the coastal villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar. Both of which are surrounded with beautiful rock formations and breathtaking cliffs. The most stunning of these geological formations are the two basalt columns called Lóndrangar.
Next is the picturesque Ytri-Tunga to see its resident seal colony. These beautiful creatures spend hours hauling out on the shore, are a pleasure to watch and photograph. This is also one of the best spots to watch orcas from the shore.
Next stop is the gorgeous black beach of Djúpalónssandur. This beach is home to four large, smooth stones. These are known as the ‘lifting stones’, once used to measure the strength of fishermen who worked and lived along the coasts here.
Our final stop will be one of the most photographed mountain in Iceland. Kirkjufell was made even more popular when it was made one of the film locations for the HBO series "Game of Thrones".
