As we make our way toward the city center, you will pass by the Arch of Hadrian, a monumental gateway built nearly 1,900 years ago in honor of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. This iconic historic landmark once marked the symbolic boundary between ancient Greek Athens and the Roman city, showcasing the city’s rich cultural evolution and the lasting influence of Roman rule.
Along the way, you will also pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, one of the largest and most impressive temples of ancient Greece. Dedicated to Zeus, the king of the gods, this monumental structure once symbolized the power, wealth, and grandeur of ancient Athens. Even in its partially preserved state, the towering columns provide a striking glimpse into the city’s glorious past, reflecting the extraordinary engineering skill and deep religious devotion of ancient Greek civilization.
