The Royal court was moved from Curtea de Argeș to Târgoviște in 1431, and it was constantly refurbished throughout the years. In 1395 the city was sieged and set on fire by Bayezid I, and in 1462 the Ottoman invasion was only stopped from reaching the city by Vlad the Impaler’s Night Attack.
