The 14-day budget safari offered by Bamboo Ecotours takes you to the most stunning tourist attractions in southwestern Uganda. The major highlights are game drives, gorilla trekking and community experiences.
Welcome to Uganda! Our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe/Kampala. If time allows, spend the afternoon visiting the Uganda Museum and local markets in downtown Kampala.
In the morning we will transfer from Kampala to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Rhino’s got extinct in Uganda in the early 1980s and Ziwa site is being used as breeding site for the black and white Rhino. After we will proceed to Murchison Falls National Park
In the morning you will go for a game drive in the park to spot elephants, lions, giraffe and other wildlife. In the afternoon, you will take a relaxing boat trip on the River Nile and here you will have a chance to see crocodiles, hippos and a range of rare birds. You will also see for yourself the point where River Nile joins Lake Albert, which is one of the “major highlights” of this trip. Visit the top of the Murchison Falls in the later afternoon This trip will take to you to upper Murchison Falls National Park where you have spectacular views of the Murchison Falls along the Nile River.
After breakfast, we will start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park . This will be the longest drive of the 14 day safari that will take 7 to 8hrs via Fort Portal town.
You will head to the Kibale forest immediately after breakfast to trek the chimpanzees in their forest home. If you are lucky on the trek, you might encounter other different species of monkeys in the Kibale forest. These include colubus monkey, olibe baboon and red tailed monkey. Optional activity in the afternoon: Visit Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary knowns as a "birder's paradise"
Transfer from Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park will go through the spectualra Fort Portal crater lakes.
Kasenyi plains game drive Before sunrise you will go for a game drive in the pack to search for predator and nocturnal dwellers as they return to their hide outs. Expect species such as elephants, buffaloes, side stripped jackals, hyena, leopards, Lions, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, giant forest Hogs.
Kazinga channel boat trip After lunch, you will take a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. Here, you will see a lot of hippos (more than you can possibly imagine!), as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see: Buffalo, Crocodile, bathing Elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.
We will start the journey in the morning from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi National Park. We will stopover at the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park to sight tree climbing lions
You will head to the Bwindi National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The briefing will be conducted by the national park guide and will cover the basics on what to expect during the trek. It is at this point that you will be told which gorilla family to trek. It is likely that you will be joined by other visitors. The gorilla trek can take from few to many hours depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest.
This trip will take you to trek the golden monkeys, an endemic species of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in south western Uganda. You will enter the forest and walk through the thick bamboo vegetation and a variety of indigenous plants like giant lobelia. The golden monkey trek should take about 5 hours. Alternative activities include Sabyinyo volcano hike and Batwa cultural experience
We will transfer to the famous Lake Bunyonyi. Activities at Lake Bunyonyi include canoeing, swimming and bird watching plus relaxation.
Additional activities at Lake Bunyonyi in the morning. Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park in the afternoon. You can also opt to leave Lake Bunyonyi early if needed.
Full day at Lake Mburo National Park. Activities include game drives, boat trip, nature walk, horse riding, etc
This will be the last day of the 14 Day Uganda Classic Safari. We will travel from Lake Mburo National Park to Entebbe airport. There will be a stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch and another stop at the Equator line crossing to visit handcraft shops and take a cup of coffee as needed.
