The 2-day chimpanzee trekking safari offered by Bamboo Ecotours takes you to Kibale National Park in western Uganda to trek the chimpanzees in their forest home.
Pick up at any location in Kampala or Entebbe
We will pick you up at your accommodation in Entebbe and drive to Kibale National Park. The drive to Kibale will go through the major towns in western Uganda, including Mityana, Kyenjojo, and Fort Portal. From Portal, the drive to Kibale National Park is scenic, with possible views of the Rwenzori Mountains and the Kabarole highlands.
On arrival at Kibale National Park, visit the Bigodi Community Centre for a sustainable tourism experience (choose from a nature walk, banana beer-making, or a coffee tour).
This will be the day to visit the Kibale National Park for the chimpanzee trekking experience. The day starts with an early breakfast at the lodge, followed by a short drive to the Kanyanchu gate of Kibale National Park, the trailhead for chimp trekking. Here at the Kanyanchu gate, you will join other trekkers for a short briefing about the trek presided over by the national park guide. The briefing covers the history of Kibale National Park, its fauna and flora, and the guidelines for the chimp trek. During the chimp trek, you could see species of monkeys, including colobus, olive baboons, and red-tailed monkeys. Once the chimp trekking is completed, we will bring the drive to Kampoala/Entebbe, which is estimated to take about 6-7 hours.
