A Bamboo Ecotours representative will pick you up at Entebbe town in the morning and drive to Bwindi National Park. The drive will take about 8-9hrs going through western Uganda's major towns of Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale. There are two scheduled stopovers along the way: the first one at the Equator crossing near Masaka for a coffee break and handicraft shopping. The second stop will be in Mbarara city for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre. After the short stopover in Mbarara city, you will proceed to Bwindi National Park.
You will head to the Bwindi National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The briefing will be conducted by the national park guide and will cover the basics on what to expect during the trek. It is at this point that you will be told which gorilla family to trek. It is likely that you will be joined by other visitors. The gorilla trek can take from few to many hours depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest. Note: Depending on the availability of gorilla trekking permits, we might suggest trekking the gorillas at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
We will start the journey in the morning from the Bwindi area and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey will take you through the stunning landscapes of western Uganda. You will arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park in the late afternoon. Join the Kazinga Channel boat trip in the afternoon.
You will head to Kalinzu forest immediately after breakfast to experience trekking the chimpanzees in their forest home. If you are lucky on the trek, you might encounter other species of monkeys in the Kibale forest. These include Columbus monkey, olive baboon, and red-tailed monkey. Transfer to Kigali or Kampala/Entebbe immediately after the chimpanzee trek.
