The beautiful village of Pinhão is located on the right bank of the Douro River, in the heart of the Douro Wine Region where many of the main Port wine estates are located. The name of the village owes its name to its location at the mouth of the river Pinhão, one of the tributaries of the Douro. Nestled between the two rivers, and situated on a hillside in steps over the Douro it presents a beautiful landscape dotted with farms and manor houses in a unique beauty typical of the Douro Wine Region. Among the main heritage of the town of Pinhão is the Railway Station, built during the 19th century and well known for its tiles depicting the production of Port wine, from the harvest, the treading of the grapes to the transport of the wine in rabelo boats down the river to the cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.
