Arequipa´s half-day hike was especially created for hiker lovers and to discover the greatest Arequipa's countryside, located just 45min away from the city center.
This half-day hike includes a great time to disconnect you from the noise and stresful of the city, to encounter with nature, with nice farming people, and enjoy a suitable hike designed for young and adult people.
Thanks to the strong Spanish influence today Characato district is a great reference of pride as known as "Los Characatos".
Why to hike in Characato? por que este lugar fue el primer asentamiento para los conquistadores españoles (June 24, 1541). Considered the first spanairs town in Arequipa region.

Meeting and pickup
The meeting will be at our office of PERU ADVENTURE TOURS at calle RIVERO 509, downtown. 8AM or 12M we will wait for all participants.
What to expect
The distance to hike is betwenn 6KM and 8KM, which is around 3hrs through great countryside atmosphere.
For morning departs (8AM), the hikers can have the alternative to be drop-off at local restaurante as known as "Picanteria" to really taste the genuine cuisine of Arequipa region, considered one of the best in Peru. Characato offers good Picanterias (local restaurants) to have lunch and satified your taste.
