For those who love sports, a visit to the Athens Marathon starting point is a must, as is the walk to the Marathon Road Museum. Finally, we would not miss the view from the Marathon Dam.
Schinias: One of the most beautiful areas of Athens to visit is the Schinias Park where you will be able to combine great swimming, relaxation, incredible natural beauty, birdwatching or walking.

Meeting and pickup
The guide driver will be happy to pick you up from any location you prefer — whether it is a hotel (where they will be waiting for you at the reception), an Airbnb, the Port of Piraeus (meeting you right outside your cruise ship with a sign displaying your name), or a metro or bus station. 1Marathon Lake
Marathon Lake is an artificial lake at a distance of about 26km from the center of Athens. The dam was constructed from 1926 to 1929 to cover the growing needs of the capital for water after the huge immigration wave that followed the Asia Minor War (1919-1922). This lake matches perfectly with the natural surrounding and above the dam, there is a coffee restaurant with an amazing view. At the time of its construction, the Marathon Dam was a major symbol of modernization for Greece. The dam is found about 10 min drive from the location of the Marathon Battle, signifying the connection of future with the past and was built with high-quality Pantelic marble, the same material that was used in the Parthenon. At the base of the dam, the workers built a replica of the Athenian Treasury Temple in Delphi. This building is a replica and commemorates a victory at Marathon in wrestling from nature its life-giving water for the citizens of Athens.

2Archaeological Museum of Marathon
Optional - Only 5 km from Marathonas, this museum boasts artefacts that are 2,500 years old from around where the battle of Marathon took place. It includes parts of the monument celebrating the Greek win over the Persians, Neolithic and ceramic finds, sculptures of Herod Atticus and much more.

3Marathon Run Museum
The Marathon Run Museum is located in the town of Marathon, in the northeastern region of Attica, the place where the marathon race was born. It is small but includes more than 3,100 rare exhibits that present the modern history of the Marathon Race from 1896 until this day.

4Marathon Tomb
At the battle of Marathon, the Athenians suffered significant losses. Although they won, 192 Athenians died trying to defend their city from the enemy. Their bodies lie there, at the awe-inspiring Marathon Tomb or else known Tomb of the Athenians. On the Marathon plain, the tomb is 9 meters high and has been the place where the Athenians paid tribute to their deaths every year. This is one of the monuments that you will see, after reaching Marathon. Immense respect to the ones who gave their life for what they believed in, ever since antiquity.
