At 12:45 arrive at Kalambaka, where your tour guide will be waiting for you, holding a signboard with your name and will transfer you to your hotel for some relaxation. In the afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel for a Meteora sunset tour. During this tour you will have the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views, admire the remarkable architecture and natural beauty of this unique landscape and witness one of the most breathtaking sunsets you will ever see. Then you have free time to explore the city of Kalambaka.
The Monastery of Saint Nicholas of Anapafsas is literally suspended in air on a small rock and is the first monastery that we meet on our way from Kastraki village to the stone forest of Holy Meteora.
The Monastery of the Holy Trinity is the third oldest monastery in Meteora and is the most difficult to reach, since the visitor has to cross a downhill path and then ascend 145 steps carved into the rock.
The Monastery of Saint Stephen’s is located just above the city of Kalampaka and is the most accessible monastery in Meteora, as there are no steps to reach the entrance and the access is easy through a small stone bridge.
The Byzantine church of of the Assumption of Virgin Mary is situated in the old district of Kalampaka and is the oldest preserved monument in the whole region of Meteora.
Next morning, you will be able to participate in a 4h tour of your choice. You can either participate in our 4h “Meteora: Morning Half Day Sightseeing and Monasteries Tour” to further explire the monasteries or our 4h “Hidden Trails of Meteora - Hiking” to discover the hidden walking trails of Meteora. In the afternoon you will have free time to explore the area on your own.
The Roussanou Monastery, also known as Arsani, stands on top of an impressive vertical and steep cliff of Meteora, between the Monasteries of Saint Nicholas Anapafsas and Varlaam.
The Varlaam Monastery or Monastery of All the Saints is located on an imposing rock exactly opposite of the Great Meteoron and it is the second largest monastery.
The Monastery of Great Meteoron or Transfiguration of Christ, expresses the greatness and history of the Holy Meteora, as it is the oldest and most important monastery.
Make the last day count in Meteora and take a morning walk on your own to the nearby Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushrooms Museum. Explore a rich collection of birds and mammals as well as an integrated, one-of-a-kind, Mushroom collection.
After, have some free time in the town of Kalambaka before we pick you up from your hotel at 17:30 to transfer you to the bus returning to Athens. You will arrive in Athens at 22:15.
