Upon arrival at Queen Alia Airport, our representative will be waiting for you after customs, holding a welcome sign with your name. You will then be transferred—about a 30-minute drive—to your hotel in Amman for check-in. The rest of the day is free at leisure.
After breakfast, meet your driver at the hotel entrance and begin today’s excursion. Your first stop will be Qasr al-Azraq, a remarkable desert fortress located about 100 km east of Amman, on the outskirts of Azraq town. Built near the region’s only oasis, this castle held great strategic importance as it provided a vital water source in the heart of the desert.
Next, visit Qusayr Amra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 8th century by the Umayyads. Originally serving as both a fortress and royal retreat, it quickly became renowned as a pleasure palace, hosting nightly gatherings. Inside, you’ll find a traditional hammam (bathhouse) and remarkably preserved wall paintings—rare examples of early Islamic art—that depict scenes of daily life, hunting, and even celestial figures.
Continue to Qasr Kharana (also known as Qasr al-Harrana or Qasr al-Kharanah), one of the best-preserved desert castles of Jordan. Located about 60 km east of Amman near the Saudi border, this striking square fortress with its high walls and corner towers is believed to have served as a caravanserai or meeting place for traders and travelers. Its impressive architecture and mysterious purpose make it a fascinating stop on the Desert Castles route.
Next, head to the Amman Citadel, one of the city’s most important historical landmarks. Spend around 45 minutes exploring the remains of the Hercules Temple, the Umayyad Palace, and the Archaeological Museum, all while enjoying panoramic views over the capital.
Continue to the Roman Amphitheater, one of Amman’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 2nd century AD, this remarkably well-preserved structure could seat up to 6,000 spectators. Spend about 30 minutes exploring its tiers and enjoying the impressive views from the top. The amphitheater remains a cultural highlight of the city and has even served as a backdrop for films and events, making it a must-see attraction during your visit.
After visiting the Roman Amphitheater, your driver will take you on a short car tour through Downtown Amman (20–30 minutes, depending on traffic). Along the way, you will pass the lively old shops and traditional souks, the historic Grand Hussein Mosque built in 1923—the oldest mosque in Jordan—and some of the city’s most famous culinary landmarks. See Habiba’s Shop, renowned for its delicious Jordanian sweet, Kunafa, and Hashem Restaurant, an institution in Amman serving traditional favorites such as hummus, falafel, and foul. This ride offers a glimpse of authentic Amman life and flavors.
After breakfast, meet your driver at the hotel entrance and begin today’s journey north. Visit Umm Qais, a historic site perched atop a high hill overlooking the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. Renowned for its stunning panoramic views and ancient ruins, Umm Qais is one of Jordan’s most prominent and captivating tourist destinations.
Conclude the day with a visit to the ancient city of Jerash, a remarkable fusion of Greco-Roman and Oriental architecture. Known for its beautifully preserved ruins set amidst rolling hills and lush greenery, Jerash is especially enchanting in spring. The city also hosts the annual Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts, a three-week celebration of music, folk dance, and theater. (Lunch is optional.) After your visit, return to your hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart Amman and head to Madaba to visit St. George’s Church, home to the famous Madaba Mosaic Map. This early Byzantine floor mosaic depicts the Middle East and contains the oldest surviving cartographic representation of the Holy Land, including Jerusalem. Known as the ‘City of Mosaics,’ Madaba beautifully combines rural charm with rich religious heritage and is a cultural hub for Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. The visit will last approximately 30 minutes.
Next, drive west to Mount Nebo, also known as the Shrine of Moses. Perched approximately 710 meters above sea level on the Abarim mountain range, Mount Nebo is a significant biblical site where Moses is said to have glimpsed the Promised Land before his passing. After visiting this historic vantage point, continue to your Dead Sea hotel for check-in and relaxation.
This day is dedicated entirely to relaxation at the Dead Sea. Enjoy swimming and floating in its famously buoyant, mineral-rich waters, indulge in a soothing massage, or simply unwind and take in the serene surroundings. There are no external activities planned, allowing you to fully rejuvenate and savor the unique experience.
After breakfast, head to the legendary site of Petra, Jordan’s most iconic attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the Rose-Red City, Petra was the thriving capital of the Nabataean kingdom and remained hidden from the world until its rediscovery by Swiss explorer JL Burckhardt in 1812. Recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Petra captivates with its breathtaking architecture. Walk through the Siq, a narrow, winding sandstone canyon leading to the spectacular Treasury, and explore highlights including the Street of Facades, the Roman Theater, and the Royal Tombs. Overnight stay in Petra.
After breakfast, enjoy one final visit to Petra before heading to the enchanting desert of Wadi Rum, Jordan’s largest and most spectacular desert landscape. Experience an optional jeep tour through the desert, exploring its rugged mountains, canyons, and sand dunes until sunset. Pause to savor a cup of traditional Bedouin tea while taking in the breathtaking views. Overnight stay at a Wadi Rum desert camp for a truly immersive experience.
This day at Wadi Rum is primarily for relaxation and enjoying the desert scenery. Optional activities include a camel ride, a 2–4 hour jeep safari tour, or a hot air balloon ride for a unique aerial perspective of the vast desert landscapes. Guests can choose their preferred adventure while still enjoying the serenity of the camp.
