    Simonehoeve

Our seconds stop is Simonehoeve, a working farm and clog workshop that offers visitors an authentic and interactive look at traditional Dutch rural life. You will receive an explanation of traditional cheese making. The guide or the farmer explains how milk is transformed into the famous Gouda or Edam cheese, allowing you to appreciate the process. Then it’s time to witness a demonstration on clog making. Simonehoeve is famous for its clogs. You will how a block of wood is transformed into a traditional Dutch clog.

    Broek in Waterland

Our final stop is the beautiful and well-preserved village of Broek in Waterland. The village is famous for its collection of traditional, perfectly maintained 17th and 18th-century wooden houses, often painted in soft pastel colors. This historical look previously earned it the nickname ‘the cleanest village in Holland.’ Situated amidst the peat meadows and surrounded by water, the village offers picturesque views where many houses sit directly on the water, reflecting the authentic charm of the Waterland region. During the Dutch Golden Age, it served as a popular country retreat for wealthy Amsterdammers, which accounts for its unique, preserved character today.
