Do you want to avoid tourist crowds? On this tour, you visit places where main stream tourists do not go.
We offer this day tour for visitors who want to see The Netherlands off the beaten path. On this private tour, we take you to places we Dutch are proud to show!
This day tour takes you east and north of Amsterdam.
You’ll visit:
* Ancient fortified towns
* the largest stretch of reclaimed land in the world
* the biggest freshwater lake in Europe
* picturesque old harbor towns
* a secret windmill that no one knows about.
This tour is all about Dutch ingenuity, like clever water management, ingenious windmills and hi tech farming. You will see and experience how we both fought against water and used it to defend our country. You will get to know why Holland is the second largest exporter of agricultural products in the world after the United States. On this tour, you see why The Netherlands is a country like no other.
Pick up time is 9:00am. When you want to start the tour at a different time feel free to ask. We pick up from any hotel, Airbnb address or location in Amsterdam within a radius of 6 miles (10 kilometers) from the city center. For a pickup (and/or return) from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport or another location outside the 6 miles radius we charge €50,- cash payment on the day itself. That is because the airport is 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the city center so it’s costing us extra time and we pay over 2 euros per liter gasoline.
Please note: after you have made a booking it is not possible to increase the amount of passengers without extra costs!
We visit Weesp, a bustling little town just outside Amsterdam.
Muiden is an ancient fortified town with a big castle.
We Visit Naarden, a perfectly preserved 17th century fortified town.
Continue to Flevoland, the largest area of reclaimed land in the world. We stop on the dike to appreciate the panoramic views over lake Markermeer and have a look at some impressive landscape art.
Lunch in Enkhuizen, a beautiful old harbor town on lake Markermeer. Option to visit the Zuiderzee Museum (entrance fee not included).
Option to visit a windmill in De Schermer.
We arrive at cheese farm Simonehoeve. Here we see how Dutch cheese is produced. A wooden shoe maker will demonstrate how clogs are made.
