The village is one of the most stunning locations on the Island, which explains its increased popularity among locals and visitors. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Island and the caldera. Visitors can find accommodations, fine restaurants, bars, and other leisure and relaxation options. Firostefani can meet even the highest standards and needs, as the Island is a famous and ideal destination for world celebrities.
Stop at Imerovogli and visit hidden spots with amazing views of the western parts of Santorini Caldera. This will help you understand and feel the difference between touristy and non-touristy places. The modern village towers over an impressive volcano about 300 meters above sea level. It is about 3 km northwest of Fira on the road to Oia. In addition to the paved road, the village is connected to the capital of Santorini by a path offering endless views of the unique volcanic landscape.
Oia village is one of the most popular and visited places in Santorini. Oia is a small town and former community in the South of the Aegean Sea, on the Islands of Thera in the Cyclades, Greece. It covers the entire island of Thirasia and the northwestern part of Santorini, which it shares with the municipal unit of Santorini. Oia is known for its breathtaking sunsets, but its sunrise is also magical. The city is the most popular place on the island to watch the sunset, so it can be hectic. Stroll through the narrow streets of Oia to take one photo after another, from houses covered with pink bougainvillea to church towers silhouetted against the blue Aegean Sea. It's a good place to wander around and see what you'll find, with plenty of cafes, rooftop bars, art galleries, and boutiques selling local crafts. There are many panoramic viewpoints, including the Castle of St. Nicholas and churches with blue domes. Don't miss the famous sunset in Oia.
Red Beach is located in the southeastern part of the island near the archaeological site of Akrotiri, 14 km from Fira, and is easily accessible by car or bus. At the end of the road is a parking lot next to the picturesque chapel of Agios Nikolas (St. Nicholas). The short hike to the beach over the rocks from the parking lot is tricky. If you want to avoid the walk and go up to Red Beach, you can take a short boat trip from Akrotiri, Kamari, or Perissa. A swim on Red Beach can be combined with a visit to the Akrotiri archaeological site. The best view of the beach opens when you approach and leave. From the top of the cliff, there is a stunning view of the beach, which is a great place to take photos.
Emporio village is located in the southern part of Santorini. It is approximately 10 km from Fira, Chora of Santorini, and 12 km from Santorini Airport. Emporio is located next to the famous black beach of Perissa, just 4 km away. Emporio gives the feeling of being in the lowlands, at the foot of the mountain, and its views are those of a valley village, complete with vineyards. The name of Emporio (Niborios), which means "trade" in Greek, is the first indication of how important this village was to the economy of Santorini in medieval times. Emporio is a castle village with one of the best preserved and most unique medieval castle towns.
Perissa is a gorgeous beach covered in black volcanic sand, great for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. It is located on the southeast coast of Santorini and is extended at the base of the massive Mesa Vouno promontory, suddenly emerging into the sea. At the top of the mountain is the ancient city of Thira. Perissa is one of the island's most cosmopolitan beaches, stretching for miles. It is joined by Perivolos beach, a more than 7 kilometers beach. The water is obvious, easy to lean in, and beautiful. The coarse black sand is walking-friendly, and it shines like glitter. However, summer can be sweltering. Stop at Perissa or Perivolos to swim or have an optional lunchtime at a traditional tavern (extra cost).
