The limestone feature, which was in Dwejra Bay close to the Inland Sea and Fungus Rock, was one of the island's famous natural attractions until it collapsed in stormy weather on 8 March 2017. The arch, together with other natural features in the area, has appeared in a number of films and series such as Game of Thrones.
The Old Citadel - also called the Citadella is seen dramatically above Rabat. Built at a perfect strategic vantage point, a visit to the Citadel should not be missed. The Citadel has been at the centre of activity on the island since possibly Neolithic times, and was fortified during the Bronze Age around 1500 BC. It was later developed by the Phoenicians and in Roman times, it was a complex Acropolis.
These temples were built before the famous prehistoric monument Stonehenge, the two temples making up this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site have an extraordinary history.
On the north coastline of Gozo, just past Qbajjar Bay west of Marsalforn, the coast is characterised by beautiful rock-cut saltpans protruding into the sea. These 350-year-old salt pans, which are roughly 3km along the shoreline, are more than just picturesque. They are part of the centuries-old Gozitan practice of Sea-Salt production that has been handed down through some families for generations.
