This guided winter tour turns Budva’s coastline into a calm sea-kayak loop. We start at Slovenska Beach and paddle in a small group below the Old Town walls and rocky shore, then continue to coastal caves. The guide leads you into Pigeon Cave and low sea passages that are only practical by kayak.
The second part focuses on St Nicholas Island. We land near a small chapel linked to medieval travellers and crusader stories, take a short walk and have a light snack, then follow the wilder side of the island under the Lovers’ Arch and out towards the lighthouse at the far tip.
On calm days the guide also points out St Sava’s shoal, a shallow strip that seems to stretch from the island back towards Budva. Sea kayaks with spray skirts, winter waterproof suits and buoyancy aids make this a realistic cold-season adventure for reasonably fit beginners and intermediate paddlers.
Launch from Slovenska Beach: we meet on the beach, fit winter suits and spray skirts, cover basic paddling and safety, then head out along the quiet winter coastline.
We paddle under the Old Town walls and citadel, along small beaches and rocks, while the guide gives a short intro to the bay’s history.
We enter Pigeon Cave and nearby sea passages by kayak, staying close to cliffs, rock formations and sheltered coves.
Crusaders’ Chapel on St Nicholas Island: We land near a small island chapel linked to medieval travellers and crusader legends, take a short walk, have a light snack and keep the story on the island’s role in local history.
Lovers’ Arch: We follow the rocky shoreline under the natural rock span known locally as the Lovers’ Arch and continue along the wilder side of the island.
Lighthouse point & open sea: At the far tip of St Nicholas Island we reach the small lighthouse, pause for open-sea views and photos, then start our return leg towards Budva.
St Sava’s Shoal: On calm days we point out the shallow strip known as St Sava’s shoal, best seen when the sea is flat, and briefly mention the local legend of a saint walking across the water.
