**Private Guided Jeep Tour: Scotino Cave & Lasithi Plateau Adventure (Half-Day)**
This itinerary takes you off the postcard and into the folds of Crete’s ancient breath — a route where myth and memory still hang in the air like morning mist. From the quiet village of Prassas, visiting a family-run olive mill to the mystical Skotino Cave, you’re walking the line between Minoan echoes and modern simplicity. Skotino isn’t just another cave — it’s a forgotten shrine, humming with untold stories.
Then, as the altitude climbs, so does the soul. The Lasithi Plateau opens up like a lost valley, where the old windmills still whisper to the gods. Krasi, the final stop, wraps things up under the shade of its thousand-year-old plane tree — a symbol of time well spent. What makes this route unique? It’s not a race through landmarks; it’s a slow dance with Crete’s untouched character.

One of Crete’s most atmospheric and lesser-known caves, Skotino offers a raw and mystical experience. Once dedicated to the goddess Artemis, the cave was used for centuries as a sacred site. Wander inside the vast mouth of the cave and feel the cool, damp air and spiritual silence — it’s a glimpse into the older, wilder Crete.
The plateau unfolds like a painting — fertile fields, scattered windmills, and timeless villages framed by the Dikti mountains. This high-altitude oasis has fed the island for centuries. Enjoy the fresh air, slow pace, and glimpses of everyday life: goats roaming free, locals tending to their land, and the rhythm of a rural world unchanged by time.
Then we head to Lassithi Plateau, which is situated 850 m. higher than the sea level. It is surrounded by the Dikti Mountains and 18 quaint villages, which still retain the atmosphere of another era. You can admire the remaining famous windmills and the Venetian ditches, the drainage system of the Plateau. Pass by old villages and the fertile valley of the Lasithi Plateau.
On the way back we will drive towards the villages of Mochos and Krasi and visit the oldest plane tree in Crete! In the center of village KRASI "PLATANOS" a tree over 2000 years old! 24 men hold around it! 1 hour • Free Admission Ticket
