This experience stands out because it follows the authentic rhythm of Crete rather than a rushed sightseeing schedule. The journey connects landscapes, mythology, and everyday village life in a natural way. Guests visit a working olive press to taste fresh extra virgin olive oil, explore the peaceful monastery of Kera Kardiotissa, and witness the unusual sight of the sunken village of Sfendili at Aposelemi Dam.
The highlight is the legendary Cave of Zeus on the Lasithi Plateau, surrounded by mountain scenery and traditional villages that still preserve the island’s rural character. Along the way, travelers discover local crafts at Lasinthos Eco Park, enjoy free time for lunch in Tzermiado village, and stroll through Krasi beneath one of the oldest plane trees in Greece.
The day balances culture, nature, and local tradition, offering a genuine look at Crete beyond the typical tourist routes.

Our first stop is Omalia Olive Press, where we’ll take a guided tour of this modern yet traditional Cretan olive mill. Learn about the process of cold extraction, see the production in action, and taste high-quality extra virgin olive oil along with traditional Cretan rusks and local olives.
We continue to the Monastery of the Virgin Mary Kera, a beautiful Byzantine monastery with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Admire the well-preserved frescoes and soak in the spiritual atmosphere of this serene religious site.
We take a short scenic stop at Aposelemi Dam, the largest dam in Crete. Here, you will see the partially submerged village of Sfendili, a unique sight that changes depending on the water levels of the reservoir. A great spot for photography and learning about Crete’s water management history.
We arrive at the legendary Cave of Zeus, where, according to Greek mythology, the king of gods was born. A short but scenic uphill walk (15-20 minutes) leads us to the impressive cave, filled with stalactites and stalagmites.
Next, we visit Lasinthos Eco Park, a sustainable farm dedicated to preserving Cretan traditions. Here, you’ll see local crafts, interact with farm animals, and explore herbal gardens showcasing the island’s biodiversity.
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a traditional taverna in Tzermiado, the largest village on the Lasithi Plateau. Indulge in Cretan specialties such as lamb with stamnagathi, stuffed vine leaves, or local cheeses, paired with house wine or raki.
Our final stop is the charming village of Krasi, known for its 1,000-year-old plane tree, one of the oldest in Greece. Stroll through the traditional stone-paved alleys and see the historic Venetian-era spring fountains.
