At 6:00 am our driver guide will pick you up from your Hotel in Kampala and head South West for an 8-9 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take some photos. The guide will perform the water test experiment to show how the water drains differently in the northern, and southern hemispheres as against the Equator. Continue to Mbarara Town where you will enjoy your lunch stop.
continue with your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the best place in Uganda to track mountain gorillas. The park protects around 40% of the world’s mountain gorilla population and has several habituated groups. The forest is also a bird watcher's paradise with 350 species recorded, including many Albertine Rift endemics. Bwindi is a pristine rainforest on the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley. The terrain is a string of ridges and valleys covered in very dense, impenetrable forests. Bwindi has one of the most diverse floras in East Africa and it harbours 10 tree species that don’t occur anywhere else in the country. On arrival at the Park continue to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
You will have an early breakfast at the lodge, the driver guide will drive you to the Park Headquarters for a briefing at bout 8:00 am about the rules of Gorilla tracking. After the briefing, Along with your trekking gear, drinking water and packed lunch, the driver will drop you off at the starting point to trek the gorillas together with the ranger guides in the thick jungle. This activity may take between 2 -8 hours searching for the gorillas depending on their movement. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. You will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited.
after your Lunch, Take an evening community walk among the Bwindi indigenous natives, the Batwa people who used to live in the Bwindi forest before it was gazetted as a National Park, and learn about their life and culture as a forest people. You will have dinner and overnight at your previous lodge.
You will depart your Lodge in Bwindi impenetrable Forest after breakfast and travel back to Kampala with a stopover for lunch en route. You will arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel. End of Gorilla trekking Tour
