Ingvar rune stone and Vendel-era large mound The Ingvar stones are famous in the Swedish Viking Age and runology as they mention a large campaign to the east to open up the Russian trade rivers. It failed but is preserved as a fairy tale recorded at the Svea King's court in the 13th century by an Icelandic visitor. The Vendel-era great mound we pass is really powerful, which speaks of a rich central square that was here a few hundred years before the Viking Age.
