After dark, Karnak stops being a monument and becomes a stage. This evening trip takes you into the temple for its Sound and Light Show.
The largest religious complex ever built fills with colored light and a narrated soundtrack that walks you through the pharaohs who raised it over 2,000 years. You move through the great court and the forest of columns in the Hypostyle Hall as the lighting picks them out one by one, ending by the sacred lake. Your private driver collects you from your Luxor hotel, waits through the show, and brings you back.
The show runs in different languages on a set schedule, so timing depends on the English performance that night.
Ideal for travelers who have seen Karnak by day, or who want their first look at it under lights.
Please share your hotel name and address in Luxor when booking. Your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby in the evening (timing depends on the show schedule) for the transfer to Karnak Temple. The Sound and Light Show is an outdoor evening performance with multilingual options (English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, others, schedule varies by day). Light layers recommended for evening cool.
You walk into Karnak after dark, when the crowds are gone and the temple is lit for the show. The performance moves you through the site in stages, beginning at the great pylon and the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes, then into the Hypostyle Hall where 134 columns rise out of the dark as the lights sweep across them. A narrated soundtrack tells the story of Thebes and the pharaohs who built here, voiced as if the stones themselves are speaking. It ends beside the sacred lake. Your driver waits to take you back to your hotel.
