Join us in Valletta, the Capital City of Malta for a full day tour! Meet our professional guide at the main entrance, opposite the New Parliament and walk to the Upper Barracca Gardens, offering a breath-taking panorama of the Grand Harbour. We proceed through Merchants Street to the Archaeology Museum, exhibiting a spectacular range of artifacts dating back to Malta's Neolithic period (5000 BC) up to the Phoenician Period (400 BC). Afterwards, we will walk to and visit St. John’s Cathedral and Museum. Lunch will be served in a typical family-run restaurant. We will then visit a 17th century noble-man house before heading to the Malta Experience, a must see audio-visual experience in Valletta. We then make our way to the starting point and end of tour.

Our starting point is at the main Entrance in Valletta opposite the New Parliament Building. We also pick up participants from selected hotels situated in the St. Julians / Sliema area at an extra cost. Pick Up Time starts from 09.00/09.15. Participants are to confirm accommodation/hotel name and address so that we can confirm pick-up timing once we confirm booking.

Itinerary

  • The New Parliament (Pass by)

    We will start our tour at the main Entrance opposite the new Parliament, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. We will make our way towards Saint James Cavalier, passing by the ruins of the Royal Opera House.

    Upper Barrakka Gardens

    The garden offer fantastic views of the Grand Harbour, the cities of Senglea, Vittoriosa and Kalkara as well as the Breakwater. We will also have time to admire a number of monuments including ‘Les Gavroches’ and a bronze bust dedicated to Winston Churchill.

    Il-Berga ta' Kastilja

    Once we leave the gardens, we will pause to admire the facade of the Auberge de Castille - the current official seat of the Prime Minister of Malta - designed by Architect Belli in 1741 for the GrandMasters.

    Next we will stop to admire Palazzo Parisio, situated on Merchants Street. It is interesting to learn that after the French invasion of Malta, Napoleon stayed at this Palazzo for six days before making his way to Egypt.

    Auberge d'Italie

    The Auberge d'Italie was built in the sixteenth century to house knights of the Order of Saint John from the langue of Italy. Today it houses the Tourist Information Office as well as the National Art Museum, known as MUŻA. Entrance to MUZA is at an extra cost

    National Museum of Archaeology

    We will then walk towards the the National Museum of Archaeology housed in the Auberge de Provence, in Republic Street, Valletta - this will provide the ideal way to learn about the prehistory of Malta! Entrance at an extra cost

    St. John's Co-Cathedral

    This is a must see and certainly one of the most beautiful Co-Cathedrals you will probably see! Not only the walls and ceilings are decorated but also the floor is covered with memorials for the dead knights with inlaid intricate colorful marbles creating a rich tapestry effect all over the cathedral floors. Caravaggio’s highly famous painting of the 'Beheading of St John the Baptist' is also located in the side right chapel.     Collegiate Parish Church of St Paul's Shipwreck

    We will visit the Collegiate Parish Church of St. Paul's Shipwreck, first built in 1570 by Girolamo Cassar. It houses many treasures, including a dazzling gilded statue of St Paul, carved in Rome in the 1650s and carried shoulder-high through the streets of Valletta on the saint's feast day (10 February).

    Grab the opportunity to discover the turbulent and inspiring history of the Maltese Islands with this unique and informative audio-visual tour that combines a 45-minute historical documentary show and a 30-minute visit of La Sacra Infermeria, an old hospital built by the Knights of St. John!

    After lunch, we will walk to Casa Rocca Piccola, a 16th-century palace, and home of the noble maltese family de Piro. You also have the opportunity to visit the second World War bomb shelters! Entrance at an extra cost
