Surquillo Market We’ll begin our experience at a local market in the Surquillo district, near Miraflores, where you’ll discover the amazing variety of fresh and organic products that Peru offers — from colorful vegetables and native tubers to exotic fruits, meats, and spices. Then, we’ll head to a local restaurant to taste Peru’s most iconic dish, Ceviche, accompanied by a refreshing Chicha Morada, a traditional purple corn drink. You’ll also enjoy another local favorite, Causa Rellena, a delicious layered potato dish filled with chicken.
Next, we’ll visit Lima’s main Fish Market, where you’ll learn about the Peruvian fishing industry and its importance to the country’s economy and gastronomy. Your local guide will explain the traditional tools, techniques, and baits used by fishermen, giving you a deeper insight into this essential daily activity. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet local people and experience a genuine part of Peruvian coastal life.
In the Barranco district, you’ll walk through its artistic streets and learn about the history of this trendy and bohemian area from your expert guide. Here, you’ll also taste a delicious traditional dessert — Picarones, made from squash and sweet potato, served with a sweet syrup.
