After picking you up, we’ll travel to the Sacred City of Caral, an extraordinary archaeological site discovered in 1994 and later declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This impressive complex of 5,000-year-old pyramids, built by the ancient inhabitants of the Supe Valley, dates back to the same era as the earliest Egyptian pyramids. Caral is considered the second oldest city in the world, as no other site of similar age features such a variety of monumental structures with distinct ceremonial and administrative functions.
