    Departure: 06:00 AM from Truckport Windhoek Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Windhoek as you travel south toward the spectacular landscapes of the Namib Desert. Enjoy a scenic drive through Namibia’s vast open countryside, passing small settlements and dramatic desert terrain. Along the way, your guide will make short stops for photos and refreshments, allowing you to admire the ever-changing scenery. Upon arrival in the Sossusvlei area, check in at Namibia Desert Lodge or similar accommodation, located near the entrance of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. In the afternoon you can relax at the lodge, enjoy the peaceful desert surroundings, or take in the stunning views of the ancient fossilized dunes.     On the return journey to Windhoek, the tour makes a stop at Solitaire, a small and iconic desert settlement located along the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This historic stop is well known among travelers for its old vintage cars, rustic desert atmosphere, and legendary bakery. Stretch your legs, explore the quirky desert surroundings, and enjoy the opportunity to taste the world-famous apple pie from Moose McGregor’s Bakery, often considered one of the best in Namibia.     Big Daddy Dune

    Big Daddy is the tallest dune in the Sossusvlei area. This magnificent dune is situated between Sossusvlei and Deadvlei and at 325 meters it dwarfs the other dunes. Should you want the ultimate bragging rights, take a lot of water and trek to the top of Big Daddy where you can look down onto Deadvlei. At 325 meters, Big Daddy may be the highest dune in the Sossusvlei area, however it is not the highest in the Namib Desert. This honour is given to Dune 7, which has been measured at 388m. Dune 7 earned its name by being the 7th dune along the Tsauchab River
