Our adventure begins at our tour center in downtown Oslo. From there, we’ll hop on a train and enjoy scenic views as the train winds its way through the hills, bringing us up to the forest of Nordmarka. This lush forest area just north of Oslo, is home to an amazing array of wildlife. If you're lucky, you might spot a moose, beaver, deer, eagle, hawk, or even a fox – just to name a few. You never know what might appear around the next bend! While we can't guarantee an encounter with forest animals, the chance to see them is always present, so keep your camera handy.
From here we will make our way through the lush green forest to the majestic Skjennungstoppen mountain. The trail offers a perfect balance of challenging terrain and peaceful, serene pathways, as you hike through the stunning Norwegian wilderness. When we reach the summit, the reward is worth every step – panoramic views that will take your breath away. In this part of the forest we might catch a glimpse of fox, beaver, moose, deer, eagle, hare and many other animals. They are all harmless and can be elusive, but keep your eyes peeled and you may be lucky! Along the way, we will stop at two "hytte" (traditional Norwegian cabins). First, we’ll visit Skjennungenstua, followed by Ullevålseter. They serve great coffee and fresh pastries, such as freshly made waffles, served with jam and sour cream or Norway´s famous brown cheese. We’ll also make a stop at the geographical center of Oslo, hidden right in the heart of the forest.
Visit the first of two traditional cabins.
Grab a coffee or fresh pastry at the second of the two traditional Norwegian cabins.
Our hike will end at the picturesque Sognsvann Lake, where we’ll take the metro back to the city center. Please keep in mind that this hiking tour is quite challenging.
