Tucume was the last capital city of the Lambayeque culture. The site is composed by 26 "huacas" or pyramids. It is possible to see Huaca I, Huaca Las Estacas and Huaca Larga.
The Tucume Museum was opened in 2014. It is organized in 3 independent halls. In the first one, there are pieces of pottery and objets of the Lambayeque culture. The second hall is associated to the Temple of the Sacred Stone. The third hall has the ornaments of the Lord of Tucume.
This is the most iconic museum of Peru. The building has connection with the Moche architecture of its temples. You will find the treasures discovered in Huaca Rajada: The Lord of Sipan, The Priest and the Old Lord of Sipan.
Huaca Rajada is the name of the temple of the Moches where the archaeologist discovered the first royal tomb intact of Peru. There is a replica of the Tomb of the Lord of Sipan, the tomb of The Priest and the Old Lord of Sipan.
The museum was inaugurated in 2009. You will see the objets of the Tombs 14, 15 and 16 (Warrior Priest, Warrior Noble and Warrior Lord). It is possible to see pieces of pottery of the Moches, Lambayeque, Chimu and Incas.
