Keramikos is one of Athens’ most compelling neighborhoods, where ancient history, working-class traditions and a new creative energy all meet. On market day, its streets become especially lively, filled with vendors, shoppers and the flavors of the season.
We’ll begin with coffee and fresh pastries before visiting long-standing neighborhood favorites, including an old bakery serving bougatsa and a tiny kitchen specializing in Cretan dishes. We’ll also stop at newer spots showcasing artisanal Greek products, goat’s milk yogurt with wild thyme honey and inventive takes on traditional meze.
Along the way, we’ll explore the weekly open-air market, tasting seasonal produce and learning how it shapes Greek cooking. We’ll also visit former industrial landmarks transformed into cultural spaces and pass working ceramics workshops that connect modern Keramikos to its ancient pottery-making past.

On our Keramikos food tour, we will walk through the weekly street market and get a taste of the creativity and tradition that reside here, visiting neighborhood institutions, both old and new.
