The Waru Warus near Puno are one of the region's most intriguing discoveries. These geometric formations carved into the land were the Incas' ingenious solution to highland frosts—raised agricultural beds that trapped warmth and protected crops during freezing nights. They're a striking example of how this civilization engineered their environment to survive at altitude.
This tour also takes you to three other significant Inca sites around the area. At the Temple of Fertility, you'll visit the spot where ceremonies honoring Pachamama—the earth goddess—were held to encourage strong harvests. The Portal de Aramu Muru is carved into red rock and surrounded by local legends about doorways between worlds. And the Inca Cemetery, with its stone chullpas rising from the landscape, offers a window into burial practices and spiritual traditions that are still not entirely understood.
