Starting with Masai Mara National game reserve, the wildlife, culture and landscapes warm you up for an experience in Lake Manyara, which supports one of the highest biomass of densities of large mammals in the world, giving you a solid reason to visit the site. Ngorongoro crater offers a splendid blue-green view. As amazing as it looks, maybe the real magic happens when you get down inside and drive among wildlife. The last destination being Serengeti National park, your experience gets better as you are in one of the greatest wildlife-watching destinations on earth.
Our driver guide will come to pick you up at your hotel lobby within Nairobi
Your hotel pickup happens at 7:30 am for the drive west to Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Once you arrive and settle into your tented camp, lunch gets served before you head out for an afternoon game drive. The reserve has over 450 animal species recorded here, so you'll likely spot migrating wildebeest and zebra, plus lions, leopards, cheetahs, and elephants as the light starts to change.
This full day keeps you out viewing wildlife across Maasai Mara's grasslands and rolling hills. You'll see great herds of plain game, black-maned lions, leopards, cheetahs, and elephants throughout the morning and into midday. Lunch happens at the Mara River, which marks the Kenya-Tanzania border and where the yearly wildebeest migration occurs. After eating, the game drive continues through different sections of the park before you return to camp.
After breakfast, the drive to Nairobi begins with scenic stops along the way. You'll see views of the Rift Valley and its surrounding landforms from various points. Arriving late in the afternoon marks the end of your Kenya safari portion, so you'll have the evening to settle in and rest from the long drive.
An early 5:00 am pickup from your Nairobi hotel gets you heading toward Arusha. The drive includes a stopover at Namanga border post for immigration procedures, then you'll arrive in Arusha around 9:00 am. From there, you head to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. The park's track network lets you find buffalo, elephants, tree-climbing lions, leopards, black rhinos, and bird species like lesser flamingos and Egyptian geese
After breakfast, you leave Lake Manyara and travel to Ngorongoro, getting there in the afternoon. Then you descend 2,000 feet onto the crater floor for a full afternoon exploration. Black-maned lions, rhinos, buffaloes, and elephants roam the floor alongside grazing animals. Lunch breaks at Ngoitoktok Springs picnic site, and afterward an evening game drive happens before heading back to your lodge.
Breakfast done, you leave Ngorongoro and head to Serengeti, arriving in time for lunch there. The afternoon includes a game drive through the park to see its diverse animal life. Your evening gets spent relaxing at the lodge, with dinner service before you settle in for the night.
Morning and afternoon game drives fill your Serengeti day with wildlife viewing. By mid-afternoon, you return to the lodge for lunch and leisure time before heading back out. The name 'Serengeti' means 'endless plains' in Maasai, and the central plains hold carnivores like leopards, hyenas, and cheetahs. You'll also see the annual wildebeest and zebra migration between Serengeti and Maasai Mara, plus eagles, flamingoes, ducks, geese, and vultures.
After breakfast, one final game drive and viewing session happens while you exit Serengeti. The drive to Arusha goes through Mto wa Mbu village, with the tour wrapping up in the afternoon. Your East African safari adventure concludes with the return to Arusha.
