Itinerary

    Day 1

    Arrival in Puerto Maldonado (Biodiversity Capital of Peru)

    Madre de Dios Region

    Reception at the airport or ground terminal and transfer to the Monte Amazónico Lodge office for registration. Transfer to the captaincy port where we will take the boat for an hour, to our hostel - Welcome meeting, with a refreshing fruit-based juice from our region. Installation in our respective rooms. After lunch, we will visit the “monkey island”, located in front of our Lodge across the Mother of God River where we will find different species such as the family of friar monkey capuchin monkeys that live on the island and return to the Lodge. At night we will go in search of white alligators that are usually found on sandbanks, in the Mother of God River for which it will be necessary to carry a flashlight. Also, we can see the capybara the largest rodent in the world that can weigh 60 kilos, return to the hostel, dinner and rest.

    Lake Sandoval

    After breakfast we will walk 3 Km. In the middle of the dense rainforest and head towards Lake Sandoval (inhabited by piranhas) one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve and we will ride a rowing boat where we will appreciate a wide variety of birds and monkeys of different species, (shansho, cormorant, jacanas, heron cougar, hens, cotomono, friar monkey, black machín, pichicos and sloths). Perhaps we will have an encounter with the giant otter family (almost two meters long) that is endangered and the largest recorded alligators over 4 meters long, return to the Lodge to enjoy the typical lunch. At night we will have a walk where we can appreciate the diversity of species of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other animals of nocturnal habits.

    Tambopata National Reserve

    5.30am in the morning we will make a small walk along the Canopy Walk-Way, over the 30 meters high, which will allow us to appreciate nature from as high as possible, we will also have a panoramic view of the Mother of God River. From the platforms we will observe different species of birds, it will be a wonderful experience. After breakfast we prepare for a challenge activity on the trees over 30 meters high, for this activity we will have an instructor guide who will give us a talk on how to use the safety harness for the Zip-line, feeling the adrenaline when sliding through the trees, return to the Lodge. After lunch we will be able to carry out an artisanal fishing in the Madre de Dios river, with a little patience we will see some species of fish such as catfish, pigeons among others. In the afternoon the challenge is to cross the Mother of God River by kayak, along the way we can appreciate the fascinating sunset.

    Collpa of Parrots

    Very early in the morning we will take the boat to visit the La Cachuela parrot cup, a wall of earth (clay) on the side of the Madre de Dios River, where the different species of parrots go down to eat this special and indispensable clay necessary for their metabolism. You will have an experience that never forgets to see different colored parrots. Then return to the lodge for breakfast, Then return to the city, transfer to the airport.
