  The Changing of the Guard in Athens is a ceremonial event that occurs in front of the Hellenic Parliament building, at Syntagma Square. This ceremony features the Evzones, an elite unit of the Hellenic Army who are also the presidential guard. Dressed in traditional uniforms, which include kilts (foustanella), tsarouchia (shoes with pompoms), and a cap (phareon), the Evzones perform a highly choreographed routine. The change occurs every hour, marked by a ritualistic and slow-motion performance that honors the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
