Established in 1975, this remarkable museum boasts a meticulously curated collection of antiquities dating back to the Middle Kingdom (2055 BC - c. 1650 BC), primarily sourced from the Theban temples and necropolis. In 2004, the museum underwent an extension, "the Glory of Thebes," which houses a remarkable collection dating back to the New Kingdom (1570 - 1050 BC), featuring two royal mummies of Ahmose I and Ramses I.
