Start your Jordan experience with meet and assist service and an airport transfer to your selected hotel option in Amman. Check in, and then enjoy dinner in your hotel and the rest of the evening at your leisure.
After breakfast, head out on your morning vehicle tour of Amman, Jordan’s capital. The city boasts history and sites in equal measures, and your private driver shows you its highlights. Sit back and relax for a private car ride around the downtown streets, seeing the spectacular Roman Theatre, traditional markets, churches, and mosques like King Abdullah Blue Mosque next to the parliament; then continue to the Abdali Boulevard and the modern area with its residential neighborhood.
After your panoramic city tour, set off on your afternoon excursion to Jerash. When you arrive in the ancient city, enter through the main gates on foot, and gaze in wonder at well-preserved Roman architecture before you. Under Alexander the Great’s rule, Jerash became one of the wealthiest Decapolis cities of the Roman Empire. See the Oval Plaza, an intriguing egg-shaped forum, and amble down the famous colonnaded street. Stop whenever you like to take photos by some of the city’s many sites including temples and theaters. Along the way, your guide shares historical anecdotes about the city’s golden age. After your walking tour finishes, return to Amman by coach, and enjoy dinner in your hotel.
Check out of your Amman hotel after breakfast, and relax on the coach ride to the first stop of your action-packed day: the market town of Madaba. Often called the ‘City of Mosaics,’ the city owes its popularity to a lavish mosaic map of the Holy Land that covers the floor of St George’s Church. Head inside the church to see it, and learn about the town’s other ancient biblical sites from your guide.
After a lunch stop in town (own expense), continue west to Mount Nebo, the hill where Moses was said to have been granted a view of the Holy Land. Admire views of Jordan Valley, seeing the ancient lands of Judah and Jericho, and visit its Franciscan Church.
Travel onward to nearby Bethany, an important Christian pilgrimage site. Located on the eastern banks of the Jordan River, Bethany was recognized by the Vatican as the baptism site of Jesus Christ. Stretch your legs on a stroll around Bethany
Travel onward to the Dead Sea. The famous lake lies some 1,300 feet (400 m) below sea level, making it the lowest body of water on Earth. Put on your swimwear and enjoy some free time bobbing in the salty water at a private beach area in the Dead Sea.
After your relaxing soak, travel to your accommodation in Petra in the late afternoon. Enjoy dinner in your hotel, and spend the evening at leisure.
Head out after breakfast to enjoy a full day of guided sightseeing in Petra. The rock-carved city created some 2,000 years ago is now considered a UNESCO World Heritage site and One of the Seven Wonders of the World. Stroll through the “Siq”, the natural gorge that acts as Petra’s entranceway, and gaze in awe at the Treasury, known as “El-Khazneh”, Petra’s standout sight. The magnificent façade carved into the rock face has appeared in movies such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Other monuments you will visit are the Theatre, the Byzantine Church, and the Royal Tombs. After lunch (own expense) climb the Monastery or Altar of Sacrifice if time permits. You may also visit The Petra Museum, if there is time.
Finish your day by relaxing on the 3-hour journey north to Amman, and check back into your hotel in time for a final dinner.
