    Depart Amman for an hour-long drive to Jerash. Journey north in an air-conditioned vehicle, taking in the passing towns and desert landscapes. Upon arrival in Jerash, enter this archaeological treasure through its ancient city gate. Founded by Alexander the Great in the 2nd century AD and known as Gerasa, Jerash was one of the wealthiest provincial cities in the Roman Empire. As your guide (if hired) shares fascinating stories about the city in its prime, explore its arches, theaters, and magnificent colonnaded street.
