Our two-day Tambopata Amazon Tour is a custom-designed itinerary led by a native tour guide, offering an authentic insight into daily life in the Tambopata rainforest. Puerto Maldonado is the main gateway to the Tambopata National Reserve, with daily flights arriving from Lima and Cusco, Peru’s principal cities.
The Peruvian Amazon rainforest is home to an incredible diversity of vegetation and wildlife. Lake Sandoval is one of the most biodiverse lakes in the region, where you may spot monkeys, a wide variety of birds, and giant river otters, among many other fascinating species.
The initial briefing will begin when the entire group is there. The pre and post trip guidelines will be given. The reference is explicit, it will be at the Puerto Maldonado Airport.
Important: To help us coordinate your pickup and lodge transfer smoothly, we recommend arriving in Puerto Maldonado between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This ensures we can organize your transportation effectively and provide a hassle free experience.
We are waiting with the sign board with the name of the guest and we will wait you on the reception of the airport.
At 09:30am, we'll arrange your transportation to Puerto Capitania. From there, we'll commence a picturesque 30-minute journey to our secluded Paradise Amazon Ecolodge. Upon arrival, our team will assist you with the registration process. You will have some time to relax in your Bungalows before we set out on our first activity
CANOPY WALK: Starting just 200 meters from our resort, we will walk to the Canopy Tower, which rises 35 meters high and is anchored at the base of a majestic Lupuna tree, one of the giants of the Amazon rainforest. This impressive structure offers a unique perspective of the forest canopy and truly reflects the immensity of the Amazon. From this viewpoint, you may spot a wide variety of bird species. Our local expert guide will share detailed insights about the region’s flora and fauna, enriching your experience high above the jungle floor.
ZIP LINING: After enjoying the treetop walk, we will continue with an exciting 190-meter zipline adventure. Before starting, our local instructor will provide a comprehensive safety briefing and share helpful tips to ensure you get the most out of your ziplining experience. You will also be guided across a 100-meter suspension bridge as part of the activity. After completing the circuit, we will return to the starting point and then head back to the lodge for a nourishing lunch. Following the meal, you are welcome to relax and unwind in our hammocks, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
KAYAK: In the early afternoon, we will head out for a kayaking adventure on the river. Our team will provide you with all the necessary safety equipment, and for added security, a support boat will accompany the group throughout the activity. After the excursion, you will have the opportunity to cool off with a refreshing swim in the gentle currents of the Madre de Dios River, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Amazon.
MONKEY ISLAND: After our kayaking adventure on the Madre de Dios River, we will take a 15-minute boat journey to Monkey Island. This area is home to several species, including capuchin monkeys, black capuchins (Cebus apella), and white-fronted capuchins (Cebus albifrons), along with other fascinating wildlife. Many of these monkeys are known for their curious and sociable behavior. Accompanied by a local expert guide, you will have the opportunity to observe them up close and learn about their behavior and habitat within the Tambopata National Reserve, while always respecting wildlife and conservation guidelines. We plan to return to the resort by 4:30 p.m., just in time for you to enjoy a breathtaking Amazonian sunset.
CAIMAN SPOTTING: As dusk falls, we will embark on a boat excursion in search of white and dwarf caimans. Guided by our experienced local guide, we will scan the riverbanks, where the reflection of their eyes in the darkness helps us spot these fascinating nocturnal reptiles. By 7:30 p.m., we will return to the lodge to enjoy dinner, followed by a peaceful and restful night surrounded by the sounds of the Amazon rainforest.
Awakened by the melodic calls of birds, you will begin your day in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. At 6:00 a.m., we will cross the river to the control station, where local authorities will register the details of each visitor.
From there, we will begin a three-kilometer guided trek to Lake Sandoval. Afterward, we will board a rowboat and glide toward the heart of the lake, where we will search for a rich variety of birds and wildlife. This region is home to hoatzins, cormorants, anhingas, and the famous “playful” giant river otters, among many other species.
