    Cairo Citadel

Our first stop will be the Al-Rifai Mosque, also known as the Royal Mosque, a modern 19th century mosque. In the same area we will also enter the Sultan Hassan mosque and the madrasa, built in 1361. These monuments are considered the best architectural constructions of the early Mamluk period, a time of splendor. Our next visit will be the Ibn Tulun Mosque, the largest and oldest in the city. It was built between 876 and 879 in the ancient city of Al-Qatta´i by order of Ahmad Ibn Tulun. After discovering the mosques we will stop to eat in a typical restaurant. The menu includes various types of salads, a main course (meat, fish, or chicken), rice, pasta, and vegetables, and a selection of desserts and fruits. The tour continues visiting the Gair Anderson Museum and touring the famous Fatimid Wall, the world street with the largest number of monuments of the time.
