What to expect

Meet Your Guide at Sólheimajökull Base Camp
Start your adventure with a safety briefing and gear-up session. Your certified glacier guide will provide crampons, helmets, and ice axes—no experience needed.

Scenic Walk to the Glacier (15–20 minutes)
Follow a short trail past volcanic landscapes and glacial lagoons while learning about the glacier’s retreat and the impact of climate change.

Step Onto the Glacier (Approx. 1 Hour on Ice)
Once on the ice, explore a surreal landscape of blue crevasses, ice ridges, and meltwater channels. Your guide will lead you safely across the surface, explaining glacier features and formation along the way.

Learn as You Go
Hear stories about Iceland’s volcanoes, geology, and glaciology. Learn how to walk with crampons, spot safe paths, and understand how glaciers are shaped by natural forces.
