Reach a 2,334-metre Alpine summit straight from Innsbruck's city centre with three connected cable cars and around 30 minutes of climbing views with you're entry tickets. The Nordkette journey is one of the most remarkable in the Alps, beginning underground in the Old Town aboard the Hungerburgbahn.
From Hungerburg, the Seegrubenbahn cable car sweeps you up the mountain face to the Seegrube at 1,905 metres, where a sun terrace and restaurant look out over the whole city. The final Hafelekarbahn then lifts you to the ridge of the Karwendel — Austria's largest nature park — where a short summit path ends at the Hafelekarspitze, 2,334 metres: the Top of Innsbruck.
The reward is a genuine 360° panorama: Innsbruck and the Inn Valley a vertical mile below on one side, the wild limestone ranges of the Karwendel stretching away on the other. Walk the ridge, spot ibex on the slopes, linger over coffee at the summit restaurant, or time your descent for golden light over the rooftops.

Reach a 2,334-metre Alpine summit straight from Innsbruck's city centre — no hiking, no transfers, just three connected cable cars and around 30 minutes of climbing views. Your journey starts at the "Altstadt" station, Rennweg 3, a five-minute walk from the Golden Roof. Board the Hungerburgbahn — the striking glass funicular designed by Zaha Hadid. Eight minutes later you're at Hungerburg, where you step across to the Seegrubenbahn cable car and rise to the Seegrube at 1,905 metres. Pause here if you like; then the final Hafelekarbahn carries you to the ridge, where an easy 10–15 minute path leads to the summit cross at 2,334 metres — the "Top of Innsbruck." At the top, take in a full 360° panorama: the city and the Inn Valley a vertical mile beneath you on one side, the wild limestone peaks of the Karwendel, Austria's largest nature park, on the other. Walk the ridge, spot ibex, have coffee at the summit restaurant, or simply photograph one of the great views of the Alps.

- It's roughly 10°C colder at the top than in the city — bring a layer even in August, and expect wind on the ridge.
- The stations and cars are built for barrier-free access (a dedicated compartment is kept free on the funicular), and the Seegrube terrace and restaurants are reachable by wheelchair.
- Restaurant Seegrube (1,905 m, with sun terrace) and Restaurant Top of Innsbruck at the Hafelekar; alpine huts on the walking routes below; shop at the valley station.
- Normal daypacks are fine; there are no lockers at the summit stations, so travel light
