It was dedicated to the worship of the Theban Triad, which consisted of the god Amun, his consort Mut, and their son Khonsu.

It is one of the most significant and well-preserved temples from ancient Egypt. The construction of Luxor Temple dates back to the New Kingdom period of ancient Egypt, with the earliest structures dating to the reign of Amenhotep III (1390-1352 BCE). However, it was further expanded and modified by subsequent pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, Ramses II, and Alexander the Great.
