The Concordia K2 Base Trek is a popular trekking route in Pakistan that takes trekkers through the stunning Karakoram mountain range, offering breathtaking views of the world's second-highest mountain, K2 (8,611m). The trek starts in Askole, a remote village in the Baltistan region, and follows the Braldu river through narrow gorges, green valleys, and rugged terrain, passing through several traditional Balti villages along the way. The trek takes about 14-18 days to complete and is considered to be moderately challenging, requiring a good level of physical fitness and stamina. The highlight of the trek is reaching the legendary Concordia, a confluence of five glaciers and the starting point for expeditions to K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, and II. From Concordia, trekkers can also enjoy panoramic views of some of the world's highest peaks, including Gasherbrum IV, Mitre Peak, and Chogolisa.

Day 2: Fly to Skardu 2250m Option A: The plan is for the whole group to catch an early morning flight to Skardu (55 minutes), the largest city in Baltistan. If the weather is clear, we can enjoy incredible views of Nanga Parbat and other massive peaks. In Skardu, guests will have free time to rest and explore the city and bazaar. We'll finalize trekking permits and have dinner together as a group, where you'll meet the trekking staff. Option B: If we can't take the flight, we might have to drive overland to Skardu from Islamabad (20-22 hours). AMT staff will decide the best option for the group. We'd sleep in Chilas overnight to break up the drive before continuing to Skardu the next day. Flying is the preferred choice if possible.
Today, the AMT team is busy food shopping and packing all of the group supplies. Guests have free time in the city during the morning and early afternoon. In the late afternoon (time permitting), we will visit the Kharpocho Fort as a group for those who want to come. After excursion we will have dinner again as a group before setting off in the morning. If the group is arriving overland from Islamabad, the entire schedule is bumped back a day, to allow for a day of rest in Skardu (that is why we schedule in buffer days!)
Today, our big adventure starts! We'll meet up early at the hotel, load up the 4x4 jeeps after breakfast, and hit the dusty road through Askoli. Askoli is the entrance to Central Karakoram National Park, the final village where the jeep road stops. The journey from Skardu takes 7 to 8 hours. We'll have lunch midway and reach at Askoli by late afternoon, sleeping at a permanent camp for trekkers.at Jhula.
After breakfast, we'll start trekking to Paju at around 6:30 to 7:00 am. It's about a 6-7 hour trek. We'll organize our equipment, supplies, and porter loads before we set off. The terrain from Askoli to Jhula is mostly flat with some small ups and downs. It can be hot and sunny, so don't forget sunscreen and your water bottles. We'll have lunch at Korofong, which is halfway between Biafo Nala and Baltoro
After breakfast Trek start to Paju (3,383 ) at 06:30 to 07:00am,Approx 6-7 hrs After the considerable organization of equipment, supplies and porter loads for the journey ahead. Between Jhula to Paju ,mostly flat with small gains and descents. The day is hot, exposed to much sun if the sunny weather, and dusty. Sunscreen and your water bottles will be your greatest friend today! We may be treated by a rowdy Balti music session from the porters after dinner at camp. Cold “showers” (a faucet basically) are available.
After early breakfast start to Khubursay 8-9 hours of hiking between 06:30am to 07:00pm. After about an hour of walking, we will enter onto the Baltoro Glacier. We will be hiking along the mighty Baltoro until we reach Concordia in several days time. It will 2 to 3 hours to finish the first glacier trails till lunch point (Leligo)40 minute will take a lunch and resting for while than start towards Khubursay, it will take another 3 to 4 hours to reach at campsite. The terrain is hilly, rocky, and uneven, with a few scattered bit of proper trail. Khubursay camp can feel a bit cramped, but there is a beautiful waterfall nearby as well as fine opportunities for sunrise view points. Toilets are basic.
Today easy hike, after relaxing breakfast , start around 08:00am to Urdokas camp , will cross a couple of icy side glaciers on the way and may have our first sight of Broad Peak and the Gasherbrum. The historical campsite is located on a grassy slope high above the Baltoro and commands one of the most intense mountain views in this world. The campsite was prepared by the Duke of Abruzzi at the beginning of this century. Easy day, finishing after about 5 kilometers (4-4 hours). As we gain in altitude, we are mindful not to push ourselves to hard or sleep too high too fast. Urdokas is a truly spectacular campsite, and one of our favorites along the whole trek. Excellent views of Trango Towers, Muztagh Tower, and Lobsang can be seen directly from camp.
Rest day. Wash up, relax, read, climb on rocky stone up to the beautiful greenery pasture on a behind the camp, sing and dance with the porters! Depending upon the size of the party, goat will be sacrificed and meat will be distributed to the porters as a form of thanks giving and to bring us good luck on our next day’s walk on the Baltoro
After breakfast , start around 07:30am to Goro-II, 5 – 8 hours of moderate difficulty up and down glacier terrain. Today we are starting to feel the altitude. Lunch stop at Goro 1. Temperatures can drop below zero at night at Goro 2. Basic toilets at the camp. Spectacular views along the trail of Masherbrum, Gasherbrum IV, and the summit of Broad Peak can be seen from just outside your tent.
Today, we go to Concordia, known as the "Throne Room of the Gods." It's a 5-6 hour trek over a glacier with more ice. If the weather's good, we might see K2 for the first time. Concordia is a special camp surrounded by stunning peaks. Leaving Goro II, we'll see the Biange Glacier to the north, offering a great view of Muztag Tower (7284m), a tough mountain to climb. Concordia has amazing views of Gasherbrum IV, Mitre Peak, Broad Peak, Marble Peak, Baltoro Gangree, and, of course, K2. Nights here get very cold, below freezing, and it can snow anytime. After dinner, we'll discuss visiting K2 Base Camp and decide whether to stay at Broad Peak or return to Concordia!
Today, we decide how to visit K2 Base Camp at night. Two options: Option A: Start early at 5:00 am, trek to K2 Base Camp, and return to Concordia. It takes 14 to 15 hours. Walk about 15 km to reach K2 Base Camp and the Gilkey Memorial. The day is exciting, passing Broad Peak and getting close to K-2. We return to Concordia at night to avoid altitude sickness. Option B: Stay overnight at Broad Peak Base Camp after visiting the Memorial and K2 Base Camp. No need to continue to Concordia..
We want an extra day in case of bad weather or health issues so that everyone stays together until the end of the trek, and we all get to enjoy seeing K2. Option A: If the group comes back to Concordia on the same day, it's a rest day at Concordia. Option B: If the group prefers to stay at Broad Peak Base Camp, we'll return to Concordia. On the way back, there are amazing mountain views, and we can take lots of photos. It takes a maximum of 3 hours to reach Concordia, and it's like a rest day when we get there.
We begin the return trek descending first to Goro I where we have magnificent views of the surrounding granite spires Masherbrum K-I.
