One of the top-sights of the country. Water, windmills, wooden houses, this is where the past comes alive!
This 32 kilometer long water barrier is the most impressive example of Dutch water management. It connects the provinces of Noord Holland and Friesland.
This picturesque place is the smallest of the “eleven cities” of the province of Friesland. We walk along the canal with its beautiful old houses with a variety of typical Dutch gables.
We also stop by at the charming fishing village of Urk, where you’ll stroll along the lighthouse and the old church by the sea. This place used to be an island before the man-made province of Flevoland was created.
Last but not least we pay a visit to Elburg. The fifteenth-century entrance gate leads you into a medieval town where time stood still. The list of monuments you’ll find here is impressive and even parts of the old city wall remain.
