    Abu Simbel Temple Complex

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Aswan in an air-conditioned coach. Accompanied by a Private Tour guide, you will drive to the city of Abu Simbel. Abu Simbel is situated 300 kilometers south of Aswan and just 20 kilometers north of the border with Sudan on the western bank of Nile. The twin temples of Abu Simbel temple are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. were originally carved out of the mountainside in 13th century BC during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II reigned (1279– 1213 BCE) Because of their remote location near the Sudanese border in southern Egypt, the temples were unknown until the rediscovery in 1813. These Nubian temples were at risk of being submerged under water in the 1960s, but with help from UNESCO, Egyptology and antiquity experts, the two temples were dismantled and raised over 60 meters on the sandstone cliff where they had been originally built more than 3,000 years before. The main temple (The Great Temple of Abu Simbel) is dedicated to the gods Amon-Ra, Ra-Harakhti, and Ptah, but it was also erected to demonstrate the might of the Egyptian empire and for the eternal glorification of Ramesses II. The Small Temple to the north of the main temple is dedicated to Queen Nefertari, the beloved and favorite wife of Ramesses II and Goddess Hathor. To the north of the temple you will visit the smaller temple of Abu Simbel, It was built in honour of Ramesses’ great wife, Queen Nefertari, and her patron goddess Hathor. After exploring the temple complex, you will be transferred back to the starting point of the tour.
