You'll leave Nairobi early and drive out to Aberdare National Park, getting there around lunchtime. After eating and having high tea, you'll head to The Ark tree lodge which sits on the forest slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet. From there you can watch wildlife from several different vantage points throughout the lodge. Keep an eye out for rare animals like giant forest hogs, bongos, and spotted genets that show up on the different lodge levels.
Today you'll travel to Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve, a quieter sanctuary where the focus is on protecting rhinos from poaching threats. You'll be staying at Sweetwater Serena Tented Camp, which sits right in the middle of the reserve. This gives you direct access to the wildlife and conservation work happening there
After breakfast, you'll pack a picnic lunch and head out to Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley. Once you arrive, you'll have lunch and then spend the afternoon on a game drive to see the wildlife that fills the park. The lake itself is quite beautiful with lots of animal activity around it.
You'll get an early breakfast before spending the morning around Nakuru park watching flamingos and the roughly 350 bird species recorded there. Black and white rhinoceros also live in this area. By mid-day you'll pack up and head to nearby Lake Naivasha with a picnic lunch for the road. Later in the evening, you'll take a boat ride on the lake to see it from the water.
After breakfast you'll go to Hell's Gate National Park where you can pick between a game drive or a biking adventure. If you bike, you'll cycle about 7 kilometers through the park and stop at a ranger's post to rest. After that, you'll do a walking safari to take in the gorge views. Lunch happens next, and then you'll drive to Masai Mara National Reserve later in the day.
You'll spend all day driving through Masai Mara's rolling grasslands for game viewing. Large herds of wildebeest migrate here from the Serengeti with their calves, and you'll have chances to spot the Big Five and see hippos along the Mara river banks. There's also an optional visit to a Maasai village if you want to see their traditional way of life. You'll carry a picnic lunch with you for the full day of drives.
Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza! Masai Mara Game reserve remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system . It is host to the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other wildlife park in the region. The scenic appeal of the tree studded savannah plains, the moderate climate and diversity of wild game species makes it a one stop shop for game viewing activities. We shall traverse the Masai Mara reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing encountering the big five and more of the lesser game. Picnic lunch shall be by the Mara river as we watch hippos & crocodiles or maybe the great migration (July – October)
You'll have an early breakfast at the lodge, then check out and do one more game drive as you head back toward Nairobi. You should arrive back in the late afternoon, wrapping up your safari experience.
