Rise and dine! We make a special breakfast stop at Mirasur, a countryside restaurant famous for its oven-fresh breads, baked on-site every morning using traditional clay ovens. It’s the perfect place to stretch your legs, sip a coffee, and try a warm, crusty roll straight from the flames - a true local treat you won't find in Lima.
Step into Peru’s complex colonial past with a visit to the elegant Hacienda San José - now a 5-star hotel, but once a major hub of the Spanish plantation system. Beneath its manicured gardens lies a labyrinth of underground tunnels, used to illegally smuggle slaves 17 km from the coast. Walk through the dark corridors and hear the stories that shaped Afro-Peruvian identity. It’s moving, unforgettable, and unlike anything you’ll see in a typical tour.
We arrive in Paracas around 1:30 PM - a chilled-out seaside town where desert meets ocean. The afternoon is yours to unwind, stroll the Malecón, enjoy oceanfront lunch, or simply relax by the bay. Want more adventure? Ask your guide about optional excursions like the Golden Shadow Trek, a hidden gem in the Paracas National Reserve offering incredible sunset views.
At 8:00 AM, board a fast, open-air speedboat and cruise across the Pacific to the Ballestas Islands, often called Peru’s Galápagos. Along the way, marvel at the mysterious Candelabra geoglyph, etched into the desert hillside. As you circle the islands, you’ll be surrounded by sea lions, Humboldt penguins, pelicans, and maybe even dolphins - all in their wild, natural habitat. Don’t forget your camera - this is one of Peru’s top nature spectacles.
From 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, venture deep into the Paracas National Reserve, where towering cliffs, colorful beaches, and surreal desert landscapes meet the roaring sea. Your guide will explain the ecological and cultural significance of this vast protected zone - home to thousands of bird species and marine life. Upgrade to a guided quad bike (ATV) adventure across the dunes - ask your guide to book it on the spot.
Depart Paracas aboard your Peru Hop bus around 12:30 PM and head inland to Huacachina, the only natural desert oasis in South America. You’ll arrive by 2:00 PM and have some time to settle in, explore the palm-lined lagoon, or grab lunch at one of the open-air cafés overlooking the water.
At 4:30 PM, it’s time for the adrenaline highlight of the trip. Strap into a high-powered dune buggy and speed across the towering sand dunes like a rollercoaster in the desert. Then, grab a board and learn to sandboard down these monster slopes - whether standing, sitting, or even belly-down. Sunset over the dunes paints the sky in golds and pinks for that perfect Instagram moment.
After the thrills, wind down in the relaxed vibe of Huacachina by night. Explore the village, sip pisco cocktails at a rooftop bar, or enjoy a local dinner overlooking the lagoon. You'll stay overnight in Huacachina, resting up for the final leg of your adventure.
Your final day kicks off with a flavorful dive into Peruvian tradition. At Pisco Nietto, one of the region’s most respected vineyards, enjoy a guided walkthrough of the entire pisco-making process - from grape harvest to distillation. Wander through the vineyard, peek inside clay fermentation jars, and step into an on-site bodega where time-tested techniques meet modern craftsmanship. Then comes the best part: tasting multiple varieties of pisco, from dry and citrusy to smooth and aged. Don’t forget to grab a bottle or two as souvenirs!
From 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM, the afternoon is yours to soak up Huacachina at your own pace. Choose your vibe: • Chill by the pool under the endless desert sun with a cocktail in hand • Climb the dunes for one last panoramic view of the oasis ringed by sand mountains • Browse artisan markets, enjoy a late lunch at a rooftop restaurant, or try a quick paddleboat ride on the lagoon This block of time gives you space to unwind or explore, depending on your mood - a rare luxury on most multi-day tours.
We’ll depart Huacachina around 7:00 PM, just after sunset paints the dunes gold one last time. Sit back aboard your comfortable, air-conditioned Peru Hop bus - a luxury coach with reclining seats, an onboard restroom, and onboard high-speed Wi-Fi - for the journey back to Lima. Expect to arrive around 11:45 PM, where you’ll be dropped off directly at your hotel or hostel (as long as it’s within our designated drop-off zones).
